The unexamined life is not worth living - Socrates (Plato's Apology, 38a)
Mostly topical news, occasionally allegory and usually personal, but always truthful
Welcome to Notes On Neo-Western Civilization and my blog, Postmodern Society: Observations and Other Anecdotal Proofs!
Holy cats! What is going on in the world?! On any given day, headlines may read, "Unemployment Claims 'Unexpectedly' Reach Highest Level Since 1972" yet, on the same day and news source, "Confidence Skyrockets According to University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index". North Korea may threaten "a nuclear response so horrifying it would have impressed producers of the Federal Civil Defense Administration's 1951 film 'Duck and Cover'" if we refuse to nominate Kim Jong-il as People's "Sexiest Man Alive". A subgroup of the "Tea Party" may levy a claim that Barack Obama's imaginary childhood friend was an unregistered alien (from Mars, not Mexico).
Intellectual curiosity can no longer remain a luxury. With branded mass media wielded as a weapon, I fear an increasingly divided and conquered society unwilling or unable to objectively process information. Please join my blog, Postmodern Society: Observations and Other Anecdotal Proofs, as I explore the important issues: justice; poverty; politics; war; economics; and who really would have won a street fight between Posh Spice and Justin Bieber (Posh, hands down). Cheers! Tom |
